MRC held its annual Dip for Mental Health last Friday, with participants braving the chilly morning and light drizzle to venture into the icy waters of Lake Bullen Merri.

Organiser Gus Walsh said this year’s event was brought together by the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) class to follow on the dips of previous years.

“We thought we’d redo it and promote mental health by doing a dip,” he said.

“I’m quite happy with how it’s gone.

“There’s been a lot of people here, which is good.

“It’s just a good way to support mental health.

“It’s a lovely social event raising awareness of Let’s Talk.”

Students and teachers who participated in the dip stayed in the lake for ten minutes, with some brave enough to swim around during the time.

Following the dip, participants returned to the school to warm up with hot showers and a breakfast of bacon and egg rolls and a warm drink.

MRC managed to raise over $900 for Let’s Talk.
