Board directors Rosli and Ian Reid presented a cheque for $10,000 to South West Healthcare Camperdown Residential Aged Care Appeal manager Suzan Morey at the Cobden facility.

The pair have also made a personal donation to the appeal, gifting an additional $5000.

Ms Morey said the appeal now only has $134,212 left until the goal.

“These two wonderful donations will allow us to complete the furnishing and equipping of more of the 36 bedrooms,” she said.

“The overwhelming support of local businesses and people means our appeal total is now $427,788.”

Ms Morey said if individuals, clubs and workplaces would like to get involved, there were still things that needed financing, including:

  • The equipping and furnishing completion of nine bedrooms at $9200 each;

  • Two $3800 commercial barbecues;

  • A $4000 television and $5000 piece of fitness equipment for the gym;

  • Sixteen thousand dollars for the therapy garden and outdoor furniture; and

  • Two $3643 princess air chairs for the residents’ new bus.

“In the meantime, the mission to find 50 people wanting to donate $97 to raise $4850 to equip and furnish the hair and nail salon continues – so far, 26 generous people have done so,” Ms Morey said.

Mrs Reid said she was proud to be supporting the appeal.

“We have a lot of customers in this area, and they will maybe one day use the facility,” she said.

“We’re going that way ourselves, going down the track.

“Most people end up in that sort of facility, and it’s great – we’re supporting something in rural Victoria, and we’re happy to do that.”
