All roads lead to Noorat
ALL roads lead to Noorat when one of the region’s most anticipated events returns on November 16.
Preparations are well underway to ensure the 2024 Noorat Show is among the best yet, with a wide range of attractions, rides and events on offer celebrating the south west’s proud agricultural prominence and the importance of connecting regional communities.
Last year’s Noorat Show was hailed as one of the biggest in the event’s history, and anticipation is building the show will once again prove a blockbuster for the little village at the foot of the mount.
Noorat Show president Rob Onley said all involved behind the scenes were feeling optimistic this year’s show will be one to remember.
“We’re hoping for the best,” he said.
“We’re hearing it’s going to be a pretty good day, and a lot of people are looking forward to it.
“There’s going to be a lot on offer for everyone from families to those interested in cattle, horses, sheep, dogs, woodchop – all of it.
“There’s a bit of anticipation there’s going to be a good crowd again, and if the weather is spot on we just have to find a place to put them all.”
This year’s show will be the first under the guidance of Mr Onley, but he’s confident the momentum the show has experienced in recent times will continue with the support of the dedicated team of volunteers behind him.
Mr Onley was joined last week by fellow volunteers who were hard at work helping to set up for the big day, from assembling seating to mowing the sprawling grounds at the Noorat Recreation Reserve.
“It’s just power in numbers,” he said.
“The local community just jumps in – whether it be mowing, whipper snipping, building the seating or spreading mulch.
“There’s always something to do and it’s pretty fantastic how everyone shows up and gets in to it.
“We send out one text message and 10, 15 or 20 people turn up – it works a treat.”
