Bulls appoint leaders
POMBORNEIT Cricket Club has announced its senior leaders for the 2025/26 season.

Grant Place has taken over as division one captain from Matt Bignell, who has had the role for the past two seasons.
Place, a three-time premiership captain in a previous five year stint in the role, said he was refreshed and keen for the challenge in his return to the captaincy.
“We’re keen to put our best foot forward to once again be a contender,” he said.
Pomborneit president Dave Murphy thanked Bignell for his two seasons as captain, which yielded two grand final appearances and a Twenty20 premiership.
An all-rounder, Bignell has committed to the Bulls for the 2025/26 season.
Lahiru Fernando has been reappointed as club coach, while Stephen Hill has been appointed to the new position of training coordinator.
Samantha Coxon was reappointed for a fifth season as Pomborneit Gold women’s captain, with Jess Moulden reappointed as vice-captain.
Coxon, the 2023/24 premiership captain, said the side was deeply disappointed to bow out in the semi-final last season.
“We can’t wait to get stuck back in, and our aim is to give ourselves a good shot at it next year,” Coxon said.
Charlie Voutier earns his first senior captaincy appointment with the division two role.
Voutier is a former under 16 captain at Pomborneit and takes over from Matt Richardson who has been division two captain for the past four years - leading the team to a grand final finish, a semi-final finish and fifth place twice.
Richardson has also committed again to the Bulls for next season.
Janelle Whitehead and Debra Reynolds will reprise their roles as leaders for the Pomborneit Maroon women’s team, while Aaron Van Es has been reappointed as division three captain for a second season after leading the division three Bulls back into the finals in 2024/25.
