Maher nabs his second Terang Cup
CIARON Maher claimed his second Terang Cup over the weekend when Ziryab saluted at the 2025 Sungold Milk Terang Cup.

Ziryab held off Mystery Island by a length in a hotly contested close, with Any Luck in third almost six lengths behind, to claim victory in the $70,000 jewel in the crown of race day.
The day drew hundreds of patrons trackside, and Terang Racing Club president Shane Scally said he was thrilled with the quality fields and strong racing action.
“The racing was excellent from start to finish,” he said.
“The Terang Cup was won by a very good racer, trained by Ciaron Maher.
“The Westmeath Handicap was quite a good race too which was closely contested to the finish.”
In the race one 100m Mt Noorat Freighters Maiden Plate, All Pink claimed victory with Swoboda and Star Compass trailing.
The 1000m race two Christian Bus Company Maiden Plate, Asmita strode home to claim a 1.5-length win over Miss Maritime and Infer.
The 1850m race three BET365 Maiden Plate saw Luckett earn a 10th of a length win over Weitering, with Rotating Soul trailing in third.
The race four 1400m Terang Co-op Maiden Plate saw Podargoni salute over Sardonian and Faerywood.
The Iverleigh Hotel Cup 1400m BM64 required close eyes to determine the result for race five, with Salsbury Hill claiming the win over Cleitus, Geffina and Asawin – with all four horses separated by less than a length.
The $40,000 Westmeath BM78 saw Luna Cat earn victory at the conclusion of the 1200m race six, with Persian Spirit trailing by only .75 of a length while Home Rule rounded out the top three.
The day ended with another thriller in the race eight Jim McKinnon Stakes BM64 1600m, with Mister Businessman handling business over Midnight Glow by just .30 of a length, while Mark Of The Man missed the mark to slip to third over the line.
