The season kicked off in early December last year and culminates this week at Simpson with the seventh and final round of the C&H Trucking sprintcar series.
After five rounds, Ballarat’s Sam Wren leads on 1305 points ahead of Andy Hibbert (1073 and Matthew Reed (1033).
A perfect score for each round is 430 points, which breaks down to 120 points for attendance, 110 points for winning both heats and 200 points for winning the feature.
Hibbert and Reed are still in the hunt, but a strong performance by Wren at Avalon’s round six event on Saturday night could put him beyond the reach of his rivals.
Other drivers in the mix for honours on the day include former national champion Brett Milburn, multiple class racer Domain Ramsay, and youngsters Kyle Mayson and Jett Bell.
In addition to the sprintcars final round, the speedcars will compete in the Salute to the ANZACs, while fan favourites the super rods come off a busy month of racing across

Gates open at 1pm, racing commences at 3pm.
